Introducing Ourselves

We are a relatively new addition to the Goxhill community, having moved here in January 2025, bringing a few decades of IT and related experience to the village. Goxhill.IT has been created as our local, family run trading name of our already long -established VAT registered companies Brighter Technology Ltd. and Brighter Applications Ltd, "The Brighter Group".

No, we are definitely not Italian, with using the web address suffix ".it", we are using it as ".IT" (Information Technology). Web and email addresses are not case sensitive, so it really doesn't matter.

Alex Williams

Brighter Technology

Alex Williams

Lead by Alex Williams, is a consultancy specialising in Cloud Technology, Automation Software and Solution Architecture and we have worked with many incredibly high-profile clients on either a fixed term or project delivery basis.

Typical projects would include designing the Cloud Infrastructure for the client at an architectural level, blueprinting how that Infrastructure should be created and managed, producing documentation that illustrates the intended, finished architecture with tools like LucidChart. Often, clients will ask us to also do the engineering work as well. This usually involves writing using Cloud formation Templates or Terraform, combined with GitHub Actions or Azure DevOps, to automate the deployment of the Cloud Infrastructure (AWS, GCP, or Azure, depending on the client). We've also done Orchestration work for clients, using Ansible, Chef and Puppet, to create and automate systems within the infrastructure, from launch, to deployment. Brighter Technology is probably the only consultancy that is fully experienced across Azure, Google Cloud Platform and AWS, with its AWS knowledge stretching back to before the AWS qualifications existed to 2008 and a prior background in Cisco Networking, Digital Forensics and Physical Infrastructure deployment and maintenance.

If you are looking for solid, secure, and compliant infrastructure, with features such as handling customer data, payments systems and hosting, then Goxhill.IT is without doubt the place to be, due to our vast experience in the Finance and Insurance industries and with both Public and Private Sector clients. Among others, we can boast HMRC, DWP and DVLA as some of our previous Public Sector Clients and Aviva, Reed Technology, The Daily Mail, Snap-on and even BAE Systems as some of our previous Private Sector Clients, among many others.

Rose Williams

Technical Creative

Rose Williams BA(Hon's)

With Rose Williams, a BA(hon's) in Graphic design & advertising, specialising in Corporate Identity and Information Graphics, Goxhill.IT also has decades of experience in the design industry, including print, display advertising, graphic design, signage, UI/UX design… and more.

Whilst more than capable of typical design, illustrative, publishing and editing, she has a strong technical foundation from building custom PC's, running or owning computer retail, to working as an integral part of developments teams as a front end developer, writing HTML, CSS and Javascript, as needed.

Rose is no stranger to print media either, having worked for several news publications in various areas of their business, on two different continents and also having worked directly in printing. She's now a volunteer assistant editor on the Goxhill Gander Magazine, as well.

Design is in her blood, to the extent that she spends her 'spare time' (that's an inside joke, she doesn't have any...) designing our home, our garden and even our car!

Michael Williams

The Next Generation

Michael Williams

Having decades under our belt does not imply outdated though, as Michael Williams (The Next Generation… ), having already secured two level 3 BTECS in computing at two different colleges, he is currently blazing through Hull University towards a Masters of Engineering degree in Computer Science, currently bringing in impressive 98% scores on his evaluations and assignments, long may that continue.

Michael obviously grew up with two Tech-Heads as parents, so was given a Linux Laptop at 7, taught himself Python at 9 years old with a raspberry Pi, and has been using and building computers since his teens. Since then, whilst attending college and University, he's evolved his existing knowledge of Python and learned C#, C, C++, Rust, Kotlin, Java and has truly grasped the notion of "The right tool for the job". He's also become quite accomplished at building Web Apps in Django and has even turned his hand to things like Discord Bots and Gaming Mods, Companion Applications and more.

This year at University, he's taking up leadership roles in some of the Student Societies he's in and taking over some admin tasks for the Computer Science Society, like running their Github account, as well as learning yet another programming language and working with AI technologies. By the time he finishes, he'll be more qualified than either of us.

The Goxhill Gander

We are the current maintainers of several open source projects and we volunteer locally, too. With Rose being an assistant editor on the Goxhill Gander and Alex being on the committee of the local Humberside group, of the Institute of Advanced Motorists, both unpaid roles, but hopefully allowing us to give back to our local community wherever we can.

We have also just recently volunteered to undertake a re-vamp of the website for the Gander and take over its hosting, at no cost to the Gander, or the village, helping to continue the Ganders aim to be a free local Magazine for Goxhill residents, with entertaining content and completely funded by local advertising.

Coriolis.io, under Brighter Applications as Maintainer, has restored itself as the premium 'Ship Building Tool' for Elite Dangerous gamers. It's previous maintainer had become inactive and was only really servicing the application in approving Pull Requests to the repository, of which there were not many. No new modules had been added for some time, long standing bugs were still standing and further bugs were being identified. There's still a way to go yet before we're truly happy that Coriolis.io is fully up-to-date, it needs to have its underlying react software updated for a start, it could do with a bit of a UI revamp and it is still missing some of the newer modules, but every new ship in the last 12 months has been added within days of release by the game developers and many of the original bugs, have been addressed and fixed.

The Gander under Goxhill IT. A few of the local advertisers may have enjoyed the odd 'freebie' advertising revamp or crystal clear logo revamp in the next issue, as their advert came to Rose Williams to create. For this first edition we are involved in, we are generally just helping take some of the workload, but then how could we resist having a play with the main brand logo and title, offering a refreshing, clearer front page and upgrading the Facebook look. A nice new website will also be hitting the drawing board very soon and we'll be taking the hosting under our wing. This should drastically reduce costs for the 'Not for Profit' Gander Organisation and hopefully, draw in new advertisers and encourage more articles from the younger generations.
