Brighter Tech
The 'original' company.

Brighter Technology Ltd has been running successfully for over 13 years now. Initially created because Rose needed a VAT registered, Limited company to contract under with her design and front end development skills, to agencies working for clients like the BBC, Farnel/Element 14 and Jet2. Alex was permanently employed at the time, for a leading US based Cloud consultancy of the time (RightScale), but then he decided to leave them and he took up the role of Director as well, to offer Cloud Consultancy Services on a contract basis, to an increasingly lucrative market, with Cloud Adoption constantly increasing at the time and he has done so ever since.
Over the years, we have both worked for some major Public and Private sector clients including the Daily Mail, Aviva, HMRC, DWP, DVLA, BAE Systems, Snap On, BBC, Farnel/Element 14, Jet2 and many more. We have successfully offered Design, Development and Cloud Consultancy Services for over 13 years to clients both large and small.
Brighter Technology Ltd. has been our main 'bread and butter' since 2012, it's paid our mortgage, put food on our table and although it's never bought as a Lamborghini or Aston Martin, it has given us a good living. All good things come to an end though and to be perfectly frank, the UK governments over those last 13 years, including the present one, have been deliberately crushing small business and small consultancy firms with ever more restrictive and sometimes even punitive legislation, that the 'big players' can just 'get around' or ignore and we can't. IR35 changes have shrunk the contracting market significantly, to the point where client companies are now reluctant to offer 'Outside IR35' roles to contractors, for fear of getting the decision 'wrong', based on HMRCs arbitrary, flimsy and 'wooly' guidelines as to what actually constitutes an inside IR35 role. Massive Corporations like HSBC and others have made the decision internally to ONLY offer 'Inside IR35' roles to contractors, despite the law stating quite clearly that they are supposed to make the decision on an individual contract basis, offering remote and flexible working, allowing contractors to use their own equipment and operate unsupervised as the specialist they are, the risks in HSBCs eyes, are simply too great. Our company is very fortunate to still exist, where many like us have ceased to be. Many are still feeling the effects of the 'Covid era', where forced shutdowns of many companies, coinciding with the IR35 legislation changes, helped to shrink the market and crush 'daily rates' for contractors. The "Starmergeddon" affect has only put the final nails in the coffin for the contracting industry and devastated our market. Other contractors, good, honest, hard working people who just don't want to work for a Corporation for years, only to never be rewarded appropriately for their efforts, are sat languishing, waiting for the money they've managed to save (if in fact they have managed to save any) over the years to run out and when it does, they'll probably struggle to find a 'permanent' role, due to their contracting history.
It was good for a while, but now it's time to adapt. We don't want to be forced into 'permanent' roles for other companies, we want to work for ourselves, we want to deliver for our clients and we want to exceed expectations, not just achieve the latest 'MVP' (Most Viable Product) as so many big Corporations now like to do. That's why your apps and software doesn't work by the way, because someone whose only job is to ensure arbitrary targets are met, has determined that the app doesn't actually need to work, for you to buy it, it just needs to be 'viable' or 'as viable as possible', by an arbitrary deadline and then they've shipped it. We want no part in that. We prefer to make less money and do good work, providing our clients with functioning applications and infrastructure, backed up by our ongoing support.
